How mock test scores, percentiles and mistake diagnosis are calculated
Your score uses the exam's own marking: marks added for each correct answer, the exam's negative marks subtracted for each wrong one, and nothing for unattempted questions. Your percentile is the share of submitted attempts on the same mock that scored lower than you.
Score
Each mock uses its exam's marking scheme. For example SSC CGL Tier 1 gives +2 for a correct answer and −0.5 for a wrong one. Unattempted questions score 0.
Percentile
Percentile = (number of submitted attempts on the same mock with a lower score) ÷ (all submitted attempts on that mock) × 100, rounded. When nobody else has attempted the mock yet, it shows 50.
Mistake diagnosis
Every question you did not get right is put in one group, using the time you spent on it and its difficulty:
| Group | Rule |
|---|---|
| Time sink | Answered wrongly after 90 seconds or more |
| Blind guess | Answered wrongly in under 15 seconds |
| Silly mistake | An easy question answered wrongly in 15–89 seconds |
| Concept gap | A medium or hard question answered wrongly in 15–89 seconds |
| Skipped solvable | An easy question left unanswered |
The advice on your scorecard comes from whichever group is largest. These are fixed rules, so the same attempt always gets the same diagnosis.
Difficulty
Each question is labelled Easy, Medium or Hard when it is written, based on the steps it needs and the time a prepared candidate would take.
